Author of The Glass Armor was born.
Alejandro Cortazar
Alejandro Cortazar is a writer and entrepreneur based in Connecticut, United States.
After receiving a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, he began a profound process of reflection on human fragility, identity, and the ability to rebuild in the face of life’s unexpected changes.
From that experience comes The Glass Armor was born., a book that explores vulnerability, awareness, and resilience from an intimate and deeply human perspective.
Through his writing, he seeks to open conversations about how we face moments of rupture and transformation in our lives.
My Story
For many years, my life was shaped by work, entrepreneurship, and the constant search for new opportunities for my family. Like many people, I learned to keep moving forward—solving problems, making decisions, and always keeping my eyes fixed on the future.
It was a life in motion, full of responsibilities, goals, and projects. And in the midst of that constant pace, I rarely stopped to truly look inward.
Over time, I came to understand that many of us live this way: moving forward, building, solving… without pausing to ask who we really are when everything that defines us begins to change.
Everything changed when I received a diagnosis that profoundly transformed the way I understood the future: multiple sclerosis.
That moment marked the beginning of an unexpected process filled with questions, uncertainty, and reflection. A process that forced me to look at my life from a completely different place.
When Multiple Sclerosis Appeared
Receiving the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis was not simply medical news. It was a breaking point that disrupted many of the certainties on which I had built my life.
Multiple sclerosis is a neurological disease that affects the nervous system and, in many cases, changes the way a person relates to their own body, to time, and to the future.
Suddenly, what once seemed stable began to feel uncertain.
The pace at which I had been living, the idea I had about control over my life, and the way I imagined the future all began to change. For the first time, I found myself facing questions I had never asked before.
Questions about the meaning of what I was experiencing.
About the fragility of the body.
About the way we construct our identity
It was the beginning of an inner journey I had never planned to take.
Learning to Pause
The illness forced me to stop.
To listen to my body with a level of attention I had never given it before.
To observe my life from a completely different perspective.
In a society that constantly pushes us to move faster, stopping can feel like a loss. But over time I realized it can also become an opportunity.
What once seemed secure began to feel fragile. And within that fragility, new questions started to emerge about the meaning of what I was living.
It was during that time that something appeared which until then had never held a central place in my life: the need to write.
The Origin of The Crystal Armor
At first, writing was simply a way to organize my thoughts—a way to try to understand what was happening within me.
But over time, those pages began to transform into something deeper.
Through writing, I began to explore ideas about human fragility, fear, identity, and the ways we often build emotional “armor” to protect ourselves from pain or uncertainty.
As the months passed, what had begun as a personal exercise in reflection gradually took the shape of a story.
A story about awareness, resilience, and inner transformation.
That is how The Glass Armor was born..
A book that is not only about illness, but about the way the most difficult moments in life can open unexpected spaces for deeper understanding of ourselves.
Why I Share This Story
For a long time, I hesitated about whether I should share this story.
In the end, I understood that many people go through moments of uncertainty, illness, or life changes that are difficult to understand—moments when the life we once imagined is no longer the same.
If there is one thing I learned from this journey, it is that even in our most fragile moments, a new form of strength can emerge.
Sharing this story is a way of opening a conversation about vulnerability, awareness, and the human capacity to rebuild.
Because sometimes it is not life that changes.
It is we who must learn to see it in a different way.

My Story
